MAN ON WIRE
As per Cameron's recommendation, I took the BF to see Man On Wire last night at the Living Room Theater, in downtown Portland. We hadn't been on a proper date in awhile, neither of us had been to the purportedly lavish Living Room Theater, and movies are only $5 on Mondays and Tuesdays. Done and done.
I thought the movie was at 6:50, but it really started at 6:40 (oops). The drinks were $6.50 a pop (This is $2-$3 above most Portland cocktail prices). The theater was almost full, there were fears that we might not be able to sit next to each other. And, it really didn't feel like watching a movie in a living room. At all. In fact, it was only slightly more comfortable than a normal movie theater.
But...
All that aside - this is the best film I've seen in a long time. The footage is stunning, the music is beautiful and haunting, and it just made me really want to be friends with Philippe Petit. He has such an adventurous spirit and such a livliness about him - I simply adored the cute (yet crazy) Frenchman.
I highly recommend the movie (go see it go see it go see it!). If you're scared of heights, you might get a little bit squeamish (Nich had a few momentary freakouts) as the footage is slightly terrifying.
